Face of God is an alternative rock band from Finland. The Trio flew to Berlin for performing two shows in the trend locations Comet and Werk 9. Very excited and in a good mood Face of God arrived in the venue Comet.  Frontman Leo Stillman enjoyed buying a few jewelry from a street designer next to the location under the bridge (Oberbaumbrücke). FOG warmed up with an amazing soundcheck. From Helsinki to Berlin, the event of that night was sponsored by j!concert. The night was perfect organised cold beer was waiting in the fridge for the bands as well some snacks. The sound tec was well prepared and knew what he was doing. Then it was time for the other two bands: Ill Kommodity and The Marilyn Effect to have a soundcheck. Time for more metal and harder sounds. Ill Kommodity has an impressive extra ordinary stage…

A new interview with Leo Stillman from Face Of God. Interviewed by Veronica Merlin, Sylvia Alnes and Lone-Elisabeth Berg for Face Of God Scandinavian Street Team.

I: Interviewer

L: Leo Stillman

I: Andy McCoy gave a lot of positive comments as a judge to your band during the Hard Rising Competition (Heat 2) in Hard Rock Café Helsinki. How did that make you feel? *

L: Andy McCoy is a legend and really good songwriter, so of course we are flattered.

I: The final is on April 15th, are you excited about it, and how do you feel your winning chances are?

L: Well, we don’t really care if we win or lose. It’s all on gods hands.

I:  In July you will be in the studio, working on your first album, when do you expect it to be released, and what will you call it?

L: It will be out in autumn. We haven’t chosen the name yet.

I: Do you have any plans to release it outside of Finland?

L: Everything is still open. Maybe, maybe. We would love to get it outside of Finland of course,  but there’s no point to do to that if there’s no one buying it. It would look cool on facebook if there is U.S and England releases, but really..

I: You have a lot of songs you play live, will any of them appear on the album, or will the tracks on it be brand new?

L: There is some songs that we play live, but there will be also ” Brand new ” ones. We are practicing new songs all the time and there is new songs coming all the time.

I: A few months ago you announced you were shooting a video to the song Born To Lose, will we be seeing it soon?

L: This month, hopefully..

I: You have been playing a lot of gigs in Finland, and are now starting to play in England and Germany, are you excited about that? And are you planning to play in Scandinavia soon?

L: Yes, that’s beautiful to be honest, but I still think it doesn’t matter where you play. I don’t really care if it’s the Finland’s butt : Turku, or London. I love both, butt and London.

I:  How was the year 2012 for you?

L: For the band it was really good, we played a lot of gigs, so lot of beer.. I’m a bit disappointed about the ” End of the world ”, has it happened ?

I:  How do you think the year of 2013 will be for you?

L: In a way I am thinking a lot about everything but on the other hand I’m not thinking at all, so it’s hard to choose what to think about 2013. I hope the band stays together and I can find my inner peace.

I:  If you can cover any song you would like, which would it be?

L: I would love to do Joy divisions ” Love will tear us apart ”.

I: You have been very busy since we last spoke during Helldone 2012, can you tell us a little bit about what you have been up to?

L: Practicing, making new songs, writing, playing, gigging and drinking.

I: Leo, you wrote, composed and recorded the song Mercy on your own, where did that idea come from, and will there be more like it in the future?

L: Well I write all our songs so it wasn’t a new thing in a way, but it was easier cause usually we fight about our music and songs in our rehearsal place, I really hate that. Now it was no fighting about a song, and I was able to do whatever I want. I love the song ” Mercy ”. I had really good time during the recordings and it was recorded in old mortuary.

I: Benjamin you once told you lived in Aarhus (Denmark) as a child and still read Danish comics, can you tell a bit about that?**

B : It was really nice, I had a shark inside of my house, that was weird. I love sharks. Sharks are my favorite animals. People can learn a lot from sharks. I love sharks. Shark shark.

*Andy McCoy said:  ” In that band I see the future, the others are going under”

**Leo answered this.

Thank you so much for you time.
